About Us

Every child is different but our aim at Norton Pre-School is for every single child within our care to thrive, flourish and develop socially, cognitively, emotionally and physically.  In choosing Norton Pre-School you are entrusting us with the care of your child, often for a substantial part of their day, so we want to ensure that you make this decision with confidence and are as fully informed as is possible.

It is important for every parent to explore the different options of childcare available to them before making a commitment.  Every parent wants to make the right decision for their child and we strongly believe at Norton Pre-School that you should look at all the different settings (playgroups, nurseries, pre-schools, au pair) available to you so you have made an informed decision. An environment that suits one child may not necessarily suit another.

Norton Pre-School provides an environment for children to interact and use their social skills in a structured early years setting.  Our setting differs because we work with you and listen to your child.  We work from your child's current development stage and needs rather than pre-conceived notions of what a 2, 3 or 4 year old should be doing.  We seek to develop your child's confidence and encourage good behaviour.  We aim to develop your child's awareness of, and sensitivity to, others and their feelings.

Where children have additional needs the Pre-School will work with their parents/carers and outside agencies such as portage, speech therapists to ensure that their needs are met. We take a positive approach to behaviour and set fair and consistent boundaries so all children feel safe and secure. We give praise to children who are behaving positively and support and understanding to children who need help to stay within the Pre-School boundaries.

We take the children on visits within the village and further a field and have regular visitors to the Pre-School throughout the year. We offer a fully inclusive environment and aim to ensure that all children are given every opportunity to develop to their full potential.

Our aim at the Pre-School is to offer a warm and caring environment where your child will learn & develop through play, with the support of well-qualified & caring staff. All Staff and Committee Members hold current DBS checks. We have fantastic facilities with the added benefit of a large outdoor play area overlooking neighbouring fields and a large covered area that the children can access all year round.

Norton Pre-school is an Ofsted registered establishment catering for children aged from 2 to 11 years of age.

We have close links with Norton Primary School. We attend assemblies and special events throughout the year and have regular meetings with the reception teacher at Norton Primary School.   Out of School Clubs – Breakfast, After School and Holiday Clubs are also available to children attending the school.

We welcome visitors to our Pre-School so if you would like to find out more about us, please come along and have a look for yourself.  Please contact Kim or Anne on 01359 232 736.
